How to become a morning person

Yoga before bed

Before I go to bed, I always do a quick yoga-routine. Currently my favorite poses are reclining goddess, child pose and supine twist (to name a few). These are poses basically everyone can do and it's very relaxing. It's also a great way to get ready to sleep and "calm down". Doing yoga before I go to bed has helped me fall asleep faster, and hopefully it will do the same for you!

Plan ahead

If you tidy up a bit, find the outfit you want to wear for the next day and plan what you are going to eat for breakfast the night before, it is so much more motivational to wake up in the morning. Not having a thousand things to think about in the morning makes waking up way more easy. If you make a morning to-do list before you go to bed, you don't need to spend all night thinking about the things you have to do.

Create a ritual

Try to create a bedtime and morning ritual. Go to bed and wake up at somewhat the same time every day, and I promise you that eventually it will become easier to fall asleep and wake up. If you set of about 10-20 minutes for some yoga, a hot shower, tea drinking and/or some reading you are preparing yourself for bed.  If you have a morning routine where you stretch the minute you wake up, listen to music and drink lots of water you are starting your day in a good and positive way.

Do something creative

I find it easier to wake up if I have something to look forward to. I often wake up about 15 minutes before I have to, to so something creative like writing, drawing, reading a motivational quote/ poem, or write down my dreams from the night before. This way I'm starting my day doing things I like and that way I don''t have to associate mornings with something bad.
